ETD's

If you need to travel immediately an Emergency Travel Document (ETD) can be issued, currently at the cost of $157, and must be applied for in person. Emergency Travel Documents are only available to people who already have a UK passport. If you are applying for your first passport you will not be eligible for an ETD. Also, an ETD will likely only be issued within 5 days of your travel date. You have to present your travel itinerary at your Consulate appointment. An ETD is valid for a single trip, via up to 5 destinations (e.g. US to UK return via France).
